Ms. Chavez 9th Grade and Nogales Tech Counselor

Hello Everyone!

I am the newest member of the Nogales family and thrilled to be the 9th grade counselor and Nogales Tech Counselor for all grades.

I received my Bachelor’s Degree from California State University Fullerton, Master’s Degree and Counseling Credential from Concordia University Irvine. I attended Santa Ana Unified Schools as a GATE student and an English Learner. I received mentorship from a caring school counselor as well as awesome educational support from groups such as The Hispanic Scholarship Fund, HSF, who awarded me a scholarship in 2007.

As a first generation immigrant myself (I came to the United States at the age of 2!) I know first-hand the challenges and triumphs that come along during these critical high school years. I am the parent of a high school student, so I can understand the parent perspective as well.

I am passionate about educational access because I believe that no matter who your parents are, where you came from or what you have today, your future should not be dictated by your past. Education is a path to success that I can help you explore. I hope that you will find your tribe here at Nogales High School and find interests, meet friends and make memories that will last you forever. We are here to innovate, nurture, teach you and it is your job to show up, respect yourself & others and be willing to grow.

Other than equity in education, my interests include Korean skin care, photography, hiking, my cats & enjoying food from diverse cultures and countries.
