Welcome to Mr. Padilla’s Social Studies website. By way of introduction, I am a native Californian, born and raised in nearby Pico Rivera. I attended Loyola Marymount University for both undergraduate and graduate studies, and came to Nogales High School in 1980. My entire teaching career has been at this location, and I have had the great pleasure of witnessing many of my students go on to have stellar careers in their own chosen profession. I have had nothing but wonderful experiences at Nogales and expect that tradition to continue. The information contained on this site will hopefully assist my students to improve their study skills as well as their overall grade.
"Those Who Forget History Are Doomed to Repeat It.”
“If you want to understand today, you have to search yesterday.”
“We used to root for the Indians against the cavalry, because we didn't think it was fair in the history books that when the cavalry won it was a great victory, and when the Indians won it was a massacre.”
“The lovers of romance can go elsewhere for satisfaction but where can the lovers of truth turn if not to history?”
“It is from numberless diverse acts of courage and belief that human history is shaped. Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring, those ripples build a current that can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance.”
