CIF Varsity Water Polo Champs

CIF Water Polo Champs

By Matt Ramirez Senior

The Nogales Varsity Water Polo team has finally attained the title of League Champions, and they have done so in style. With a record-breaking 27 wins, this season has been the best season that the water polo program has ever experienced. At the preliminary rounds held at Los Altos High School, the team easily swept the competition, and went on to win the title.

Playing all of the way to the CIF prelims and finally  winning in the of the finals on November 20, 2010. On that day there were seven games being played, so they broke it up into "paying" sessions.  They cleared the arena at the end of the first session and allowed new people to enter to watch their respective teams.  We played one game only,” explained counselor, Vicki Dayton. When asked about their continuous wins, Varsity captain, Raul Castaneda, said, “We have a good team this year. We played defense well and we had the ability to attack the goal accurately.  We had our heads in the game, and we went all the way.”

The whole school is proud of the Varsity Water Polo team.  Principal Dr. Padilla exclaimed, “We are thrilled to announce that our Water Polo team won their championship game!”  Many were there to cheer the Nobles to victory. We are so proud of our Water Polo CIF champs.
