Syllabus

The Study Skills syllabus for the Resource Program is designed to provide a place for our students to receive additional instruction and to help with general education classes, i.e. English, History, Science, Math and any of their electives.

During each class there will be a sponge activity designed to further develope skills in grade level reading, written expression, thinking and/or mathematics. These activities may take as long as the class time or may take 20 to 30 minutes.

Once the activities have been completed and submitted for scoring, then the remaining time is to be used to work on assignments, tests, or projects from other classes. This time is not to be wasted on sleeping, drawing or talking to a classmate. If a student is absent, he or she must make arrangements to make up the missed work in all his/her classes. It must be made up in a timely manner - meaning for each day of absence, there is a corresponding day to make up the late work.

Being a resource student allows the student the opportunity to ask their English, History, Science or Math and elective teachers to be excused and go back to the Resource classroom for extra help with an assignment or extra time to take a test.

Resource is also available at lunch for any student who needs extra assistance or tutoring.

Homework: Encourage the student to: read for pleasure, keep their assignment book/sheet up to date, and bring in assignment work that they do not understand to the Resource classroom for assistance.
