  3. Click on the balancing game tab at the top of the simulator.
  4. Adjust the level to 3 and begin the game.
  5. Complete the game in under 10 minutes with no errors.
  6. At the end of the game a congratulations banner will appear. Push the "Print Screen" button on the keyboard at this point.

Molecule Shapes Game Extra Credit
Hi All,
Getting extra credit can be as easy as playing a game!
  1. Go to the following website and download the simulation:
  2. Play around with the simulator by dragging bonds and lone pairs of electrons from the top right and placing them on the purple central atom.
  3. Turn on the molecular geometry and electron geometry names at the bottom left of the simulator and the show bond angles option on the right side of the simulator.
  4. On seperate sheet of paper write your name, date, and period.
  5. On your paper draw the Lewis structures for the following compounds: CH4, NH3, CO2, and H2O.
  6. Create each of the above molecules using the simulator. Make sure you include the lone pairs of electrons and the correct type of bond (single, double, or triple).
  7. Draw the 3-d figure of each compound with bond angles onto your paper and record the molecular geometry and electron geometry under each drawing.
  8. Answer the following questions at the end of your paper: What happens to bond angle on a central atom when more lone pairs of electrons are added? When is the electron geometry name and molecular geometry name the same?
  9. Turn in the paper to get 15 points!
Good Luck,
Mr. Flores
