Agenda:

1. Collect articles, sentence summaries, and responses from Friday and Monday. This will be in the grade book for week #4.

2. Assign new seats.

3. QW: My Favorite: Choose one of the following questions to answer in a half-page response.

What is your favorite school subject and why?
What is your favorite book and why?

4. If time, class will continue reading The Crucible.

HW: Be prepared to read tomorrow. Students who volunteer will be receiving extra credit. If you were absent either Friday or Monday, you need to complete the article assignment and turn it in AT THE BEGINNING of class. Anything turned in afterward will be considered late and receive half credit.

1. Watch first 18 minutes of The Crucible. Discuss character representations and depiction of background information in the film version.

2. Read remaining portion of the introduction and begin reading Act One.

What comes to mind when you hear the word "witch"? What images and ideas do you have of witches? Where do these ideas come from (Disney, family stories, tv...) and what do you automatically think witches look like? Why?
