AP/IB SL Spanish Language (Period 6)

Course Description

The AP Program in Spanish Language is designed for qualified students who have chosen to develop their proficiency in Spanish without special emphasis on literature. Students who enroll should already have attained a reasonable proficiency of the language and culture of Spanish-speaking peoples at a high intermediate level. The course covers the equivalent of a third year college course in Advanced Spanish Composition and Conversation stressing oral skills, composition and grammar. The course will prepare students to demonstrate their level of Spanish proficiency across three communicative modes: interactive communication (Interpersonal mode), receptive communication (Interpretative mode), and productive communication (Presentational mode). “It is recommended that student preparation encompass regular practice of individual language skills, as well as integrated skills”. “Students must practice the four language skills integrated in preparation for the final examination, and all modes of communication should be used daily,” (College Board AP Spanish Course Description, May 2009). This class is conducive to the AP Examination. *Please notice that the AP Examination will be given in May and it will have a fee that you are required to cover.
