Welcome to Foods and Nutrition! This course deals with a wide variety of everyday food and nutrition. It allows the students to make educated decisions on healthier food and to be accountable for their own nutrition. The students will be using all of their math, science, reading and writing skills on a daily basis. It will be a really exciting and rewarding course that will prepare the student for a healthy future!
Students will have hands-on experiences that emphasize industry awareness, sanitation and safe food handling, food and beverage production, and nutrition. Students will have the ability to explore the many career pathways in the food service and hospitality industry. They will have the opportunity to prepare and cook/ bake and evaluate a variety of foods such as multicultural foods, foods that are season appropriate and foods that support special diets.
