Intermediate and Advanced Drama (Period 5)

Course Description

Students will hone their skills in all phases of drama. They will study different acting techniques such as Stanislov, Method Acting, Meisner, sensory recall, etc. Students will review improvisation technique, creating a character, back story, blocking for stage, scene study, commercials, acting for film and television as opposed to stage, etc. Students will also be exposed to working theatre professional as guest speaker come in ranging from actors, directors, producers, televison crew, hair and makeup, and production as well as casting directors, talent managers and talent agents for film, television, and Broadway.
Culminating activity first semester will be breaking apart and analyzing a script from the actor's and director's persepctive and then performing the scene or monologue. Second semester culmination will be Advanced students will direct Intermediate and Beginning students in one act productions. Students will also take part in after school and other outside drama productions and competitions as well as have the opportunity to go on drama related field trips, such as theatre performances.
