World History (Period 5)

Course Description

World History is the introduction class in history at the high school level. Based upon the California Common Core Standards for Social Science, it is designed to provide an understanding of the major historical turning points and themes in the shaping of the modern world, from the late eighteenth century to the present. This course will require students to examine primary documents, supplemental readings, maps and other sources to help them investigate different interpretations of the past and draw their own conclusions about it. Students will be developing their critical thinking and literacy skills by completing various assignments and projects throughout the year. In addition to meeting the A-G graduation requirements, this course will prepare students for college and beyond by teaching them the skills necessary for academic and life success.
