Nogales Cross Country Battle in League Meet

La Puente, CA--The Nogales Cross Country team entered this past Thursday's league meet with a few runners out due to injury or illness. Nevertheless, the Nogales harriers showed true Noble spirit and battled to the very end.

According to Coach Miller, the runners, "put out their best effort this year. We had several runners move up in the standings from the last race."

The team repeated its 5th place finish ahead of North View and Pomona and just missed beating San Dimas by three points. "It was a much improved performance and I think the runners are seeing their hard work pay off and how close we are to moving up as a team."

The Varstiy Boys were led by Angel Avalos (11) who finished first for the Nobles and 16th overall. He was followed by Brian Campos (12), Ivan Reyes (12), Jerry Gonzales, a freshman who is on the Varsity team, and Alan Ochoa (12).

Sophomore Peter Reyes ran a personal record in this race and has competed at both the Varsity and Frosh-soph levels this year.

Senior Victoria Garcia once again led the Varsity Girls with one of her best efforts, finishing first for the Nobles. Abby Villalobos finished second for the Nobles.
