Strong Parent, Teacher, and Student Presence at Report Card Night

Nogales High School, CA--As a way to involve and inform parents about their student's academic performance, Nogales High School has held a bi-annual Report Card Night over the past 10-plus years.

Two sessions were available for parents and guardians, 2-4pm and 5:30-8pm, to meet with teachers and counselors. The gymnasium held the bulk of the teachers, but other departments gathered in the newly rennovated library and the Fine Arts headquarters in D1.

Furthermore, Technolgy Director, Kurt Schlatter facilitated laptop and Internet access for all teachers, allowing them to access individual student grades and progress.Parents were able to meet with teachers for 5 minute meetings.

The custodial staff did a tremendous job of setting up the gymnasium. As well, the Nogales Translators Team was available to assist teachers with communicating with parents.

Said Nogales Principal Dr. Sergio Canal, "This is an awesome showing of parent and teacher support. I had the chance to meet wtih many parents and students. I also appreciate that PTA provided a taco and beverage stand for the evening."

The second semester Report Card Night is scheduled for March.
