Successful First Annual Futsol Tournament!

Congratulations to Ms. Nelson and ASB for the successful completion of the First Annual Nogales High School Futsol Tournament. Over the past four days, our gym hosted several lunch time games in a single-elimination tournament. Teams were comprised of students from all grade-levels and included boys and girls.

The ASB students did a fantastic job of brainstorming ideas, organizing, recruiting teams, and putting on the event. We saw audience participation grow from about 1/3 of the home bleachers on Tuesday to a full home side on Thursday and today. We also want to send a special shout-out to the teachers and faculty who stopped by to watch the action. Your support is greatly appreciated.

The championship game ended in a 1-1 tie. A half-court shootout was used to determine the winner. The All Blacks Football Club missed by a few inches. The Wild Boys player stepped up and put one dead center to seal the match.

ASB has created a special Champions plaque that will feature a picture of the winning team, their name, and year. Dr. Canal presented this plaque to the winning team right after the game. This will be used each year and will be posted in the Principal’s Office until we move into our new buildings.

Stay tuned for the Dodge Ball Tournament, taking place in February and the 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament in March.

PLEASE NOTE: these lunch time events are for Nogales students, teachers, and staff only. We thank you for your support.
